Why Horses?

You may be wondering why horses would be used in therapy, and that is a great question! Horses are experts in relationship and self-regulation, and they can provide us with many opportunities to work on our own relationship and regulation skills without any judgment.  They have clear, consistent boundaries in relationships, find regulation within themselves and the herd, and live in the moment. These skills are only a fraction of what horses can teach us; we just have to be willing to listen.

What is EAP and EAL?

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, or EAP, is an experiential method of counseling that uses horses to help people navigate the challenges that this life brings. Participating in EAP can look different for every person. A ground-based method, people can engage in regulating and relational activities that provide tools for handling the challenges of life. EAP is typically an individual experience for people who have received a mental health diagnosis. If you feel EAP is right for you, go to our Contact Page to reach out.

Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) is a beautiful and therapeutic mix of relationship and horsemanship. EAL can be done individually or in groups to build relational skills such as connection, teamwork, and communication that can transfer to daily living. If you feel EAL is right for you or a group you are a part of, go to our Contact Page to reach out.
